The Oprah Winfrey Show the talk-show marathon that started in 1986 will finally come to a close on Wednesday, 25 years and 5,000 episodes after.

Oprah WinfreyOprah Winfrey, the anchor who steered the show says she will be relieved after one more show on Wednesday, but the television stations are still contemplating ways to improve ratings and boost ad revenues.

The Wednesday episode of "The Oprah Winfrey Show," will see the end of another television saga after Johnny Carson's "The Tonight Show" ended two decades ago.

Oprah Winfrey's daytime talk show, which transformed television viewership with extending channels' reach to millions of viewers, too has to end. That, however, spells a further decline in the fortunes of TV channels already hit by the slump.

Some channels are planning to replace the Oprah Winfrey talk show with `Dr Oz,' `The Ellen DeGeneres Show' and the like.

Oprah Winfrey does no seem to be worried over the parting or nostalgic about her talk show days. She says the most affected would be the television crew and hear colleagues.
