MEC wins the media duties for Flipkart

Following a multi-agency pitch, MEC has won the media duties for Bangalore-based e-commerce portal FlipKart.

The mandate for MEC is to increase the awareness for the three-year old brand, which has expanded its portfolio from books to include music, movies, games and mobile phones.

Flipkart has been built entirely by word-of-mouth, explains Sachin Bansal, chief executive officer, Flipkart. ''A move from that 'buzz culture' to a mass media campaign is a big shift for us, and we wanted an agency that understood these nuances,'' he added.

The creative duties for Flipkart are handled by Bangalore-based Happy Creative Services. (See: Happy Creative Services sports a big smile with three new wins)

MEC's clients include Reliance Communications, Colgate, LG Electronics, Mercedes Benz, and Zee Network among others.
