US health officials have cautioned people against contact with the semen of Ebola survivors. The warning comes after the death of a woman in Liberia who contracted Ebola through sexual intercourse with a survivor of the disease.

According to a report issued Friday, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said a review of the 44-year-old woman's case now suggested that the Ebola virus persisted in semen longer than earlier thought.

The CDC added, it was conducting further studies to determine how long the virus could remain viable in body fluids of male and female survivors and the probability of sexual transmission.

Until more information was known, CDC recommended that male survivors should use a condom every time they had sex - oral, vaginal, or anal.
