Nandan Nilekani, the Infosys co-founder and former head of the Aadhar project, has made a personal investment in Mubble, making it his first investment in a mobile technology product company, Mubble said in a statement.

The funding, for an undisclosed sum, will be used to scale up the technology team at Mubble, it added.

"We are thrilled to have Nilekani with us as our mentor and strategy coach. His investment is a very powerful validation of our product and reflects Mubble's commitment to enabling smartphone adopters make a fear-free entry into the digital world," Mubble co-founder and CEO Ashwin Ramaswamy said.

The Mubble app helps users track and control their mobile data usage and telecom spends by giving them one-click access to information about usage patterns across SIMs.

Nilekani said providing support and funding to this initiative was a part of his ethos and inherent belief about the power of a digital India.

"Mubble brings unprecedented transparency and empowerment to the smartphone user, by democratising technology and solving key problems of smartphone adopters across India," he said.

Nilekani recently invested in aerospace startup Team Indus.

Mubble was founded in 2013 by Ramaswamy (IIT Madras, IIM Bangalore), Pranav Jha (IIT Bombay) and Raghvendra Varma (IIT BHU). The app has clocked over half a million downloads in less than six months.
