Peter Honegg succeeds Wilfried Aulbur as MD, CEO of Mercedes-Benz India

Mercedes Benz on Saturday announced the appointment of Peter T Honegg as the MD and CEO of its India operations.

Honegg succeeds Wilfried Aulbur, the erstwhile MD and CEO of the arm, who had quit the organisation in September. (See: Mercedes India chief Aulbur quits for greener pastures)

Honegg has been with Daimler AG since 1976 and is presently the president and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Malaysia. ''He has rich experience of managing high growth markets and is expected to take upon his new role in first quarter 2011,'' the company said in a statement.

Aulbur, who completes five years as the India head of the German car-maker by the end of 2010, was to continue till the year end. According to industry sources, Aulbur is likely to move out of the automobile sector, though he has confirmed he will continue working in India.
