Information infrastructure solutions provider, EMC Corporation today announced the appointment of Kamlakar Kaul as the chief strategy officer for government business. This is a newly created position for the company in India.

In his new role, Kaul will drive the strategy to expand the government vertical business for EMC in India and SAARC.

''The importance of information infrastructure technologies in e-governance projects and citizen initiatives in India is increasing and is set to gain more prominence with the advent of cloud computing,'' said Manoj Chugh, president, EMC India and SAARC.

Prior to joining EMC, Kaul worked with Hewlett-Packard for over three years as the country manager for government sales.

Before HP, he spent six years with the HCL group where he started the SI division at HCL Infosystems.
