Rajya Sabha MP Vijay MallyaIndustrialist and Rajya Sabha MP Vijay Mallya got an Independence Day shock when he found that his official website, www.mallyainparliament.com, had been hacked, apparently by a Pakistani outfit.

According to the Bangalore-based Mallya's office in Mumbai, "The website was hacked and the Pakistani flag was placed on the site with a dire message from an organisation claiming to be the 'Pakistan Cyber Army'."

Spokesperson Prakash Mirpuri said, "A police complaint will be filed with the cyber crime cell as soon as it opens on Monday." However, he refused to comment on the details of the message. The website was fixed by Sunday evening and all the remarks removed.

The exact role of Pakistan Cyber Army in this act is yet to be confirmed. But the organisation has been known for similar cyber shocks, posting pro-Pakistani messages across various Indian websites in the past.

According to details available on the web in 2008, they had also hacked the Oil & Natural Gas Commission website, http://www.ongcindia.com. They also have a huge fan base on popular social networking sites like Facebook. A web report said that the Mallya group had registered a complaint with the Karnataka police. However, D V Guruprasad, deputy inspector general, Criminal Investigation Department, denied this.

Mallya said he was shocked at the defacement of his website.

"This morning when I went into my site, I was utterly shocked to see the Pakistani flag and the message," he said, adding, "what was more shocking to me was to see that it was done by some Pakistani outfit."
