Future Generali appoints Bajaj Allianz's Shreeraj Deshpande as helath insurance head

Mumbai: Future Generali India Insurance has appointed Shreeraj Deshpande, Bajaj Allianz's vice-president, head, health insurance, as its health insurance head with effect from March 2010, with the mandate to raise Future Generali's presence in the retail health insurance segment.
This is a new position that has been created within the Kishore Biyani-led Furture Group's insurance joint venture with the Trieste, Itally-based global insurance and financial services Generali Group.
He will work closely with K G Krishnamoorthy Rao, MD and CEO, Future Generali India and also concentrate on expanding Future Generali's corporate health portfolio by developing customised health insurance products.
Starting his insurance career with The New India Assurance Company, Deshpande shifted to the private sector after 14 years and over the years has also been a
member of various committees instituted by insurance regulator IRDA and industry bodies FICCI and CII on health insurance.
He has two years of research experience and a PhD from the University of Pune. The National Insurance Academy has awarded Deshpande with the C D Deshmukh research award for his Ph.D thesis on health insurance.
