Patni appoints Vijay Mehra as EVP and head, global verticals

Mumbai: Patni Computer Systems today announced the appointment of Vijay Mehra as executive vice president and head of business verticals. He will define and boost Patni's micro-verticals strategy, structure, systems and skills.
Mehra, who posses over 20 years of global management and consulting experience, was until recently, global CIO at Essar Group led the turn-around of the IT function at Essar and has also led the IT-enabled business transformation of the Group across all major businesses.
Prior to Essar, Mehra has worked with McKinsey, CSC Consulting, Syntel and Motorola.
An eminent speaker at global and regional conferences, he holds an MBA and a masters in systems engineering from MIT and a bachelors of science (operations research and industrial engineering) and a bachelors of arts in economics from Cornell.
Mehra was recently awarded 'best CIO, large corporate' by 9.9 Media, a corporation co-founded by former McKinsey partner and founding dean of the ISB Dr Pramath Sinha.
He holds an MBA and a Masters in Systems Engineering from MIT and a Bachelors of Science (Operations Research and Industrial Engineering) and a Bachelors of Arts (Economics) from Cornell University.
