SpiceJet appoints GoAir’s G P Gupta as administrative chief

Low cost carrier SpiceJet has appointed G P Gupta as its new chief administrative officer, the airline announced on Saturday.

Gupta's last position was as chief financial officer of rival low cost flier GoAir. He has also worked with Xerox India and Australian telecom giant Telstra. Gupta is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.

At SpiceJet Gupta will be responsible for all contracts, overall administration and vendor management, SpiceJet said in a statement. Gupta has over 21 years of experience across departments like finance, human resources and legal.

Among other low-cost carriers, SpiceJet says it has managed to expand its market share from 7.9 per cent in September to 12.4 per cent  in March 09 and posted a marginal operational profit in Q3 2008-2009, against losses registered by other listed airlines.
