Nissan Motor appoints Kenichiro Yomura as president, Ajay Raghuvanshi as VP

Nissan Motor India Private Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Japan's Nissan Motor Co. Ltd, has restructured its top management with the appointment of Kenichiro Yomura as president.

The automaker also named Ajay Raghuvanshi as vice president, business management.

Yomura will concurrently hold the position of danaging director and CEO for Nissan India and will be based at the company's Chennai headquarters. He will report to Toru Hasegawa, corporate vice president for Africa, Middle East and India.

The appointment marks a significant change in Nissan's senior management structure in India as Yomura will be responsible for manufacturing, research and development and joint venture businesses.

"This will accelerate strategic decision making and streamline operational efficiency to help achieve the company's objective of securing 10 per cent market share in 2016," Nissan said in a statement.

He will also be responsible for developing strategies to maximise Nissan's business performance, managing product introduction and significantly increasing the presence and accessibility of the Nissan brand through continuing network expansion.

Yomura, who has over three decades of experience in automobile industry, was earlier general manager for Nissan in the Middle East region.

He has also held various positions in public relations, government affairs, sales planning and marketing in the US, China, Japan and the Middle East. He has also been instrumental in establishing marketing and sales networks across multiple markets.

It also appointed Hyundai's former national head for dealer development Ajay Raghuvanshi as vice president, business management, responsible for pricing, marketing, sales and operations.

Prior to this assignment, Raghuvanshi was the national head for dealer development and rural sales operations for Hyundai and the Business Head for the entire Western Zone.

Raghuvanshi has extensive work experience in the Indian automotive industry and worked with various auto majors including Hyundai, Honda, Tata Motors and Yamaha.
