Kochi:
The Rubber Board will encourage marginal rubber-growers to go in
for a joint processing and marketing of natural rubber, eventually
leading to exports.
According to a plan to be implemented in the current fiscal, the
board has decided to release an assistance of Rs 1.75 crore to
Rubber Producers Societies (RPSs) and holding companies of the
board to add facilities for quality upgradation of rubber and to
reduce production costs.
As per the scheme, assistance to the tune of 75 per cent of the
total cost for installing generators will be released as grant.
Assistance will also be provided for putting up training centres,
latex procurement centres and for employing pollution control
methods.
The
board has also decided to release a sum of Rs 20 lakh as share
capital for modernising processing factories under the control of
various RPSs. A Rs 13-lakh joint project with the Structural
Engineering Research Centre, under the Council of Scientific and
Industrial Research, to develop indigenous technology for the
manufacture of earthquake-resistance bearings is also planned,
