DRDO’s Rustom-2 UAV is same class as American Predators

Bangalore: Indian defence laboratories are developing an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) which will compare favourably with the American Predator class of drones. The project entails an investment of Rs1,500 crore. DRDO labs are also working on developing an unmanned combat vehicle, according to a key official involved in the projects.
The UAV Rustom-2 project is spread over 66 months, the director of the Bangalore-based Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE), PS Krishnan, informed news agencies. The ADE is a Defence Research and Development Organisation ( DRDO) laboratory.
The Rustom-2 UAV will have a wing-span of 21-odd metres and an endurance of 24-hours-plus, as against the seven-odd metres wing span and 12-15 hours endurance of the Rustom-1.
The Rustom –I has already completed five flights.
The ADE is the nodal lab for these projects.
