Nikon opens an exclusive DSLR zone in the heart of Delhi

Nikon India, the 100-per cent subsidiary of Japan's Nikon Corporation launched its first exclusive Nikon DSLR camera zone for the consumers at Dass Studios in New Delhi.

Speaking at the inauguration, Makoto Kimura, director, Nikon Corporation, Japan, said, "India is an important market for Nikon Corporation and we are happy to announce that Nikon India hopes to surpass its targets set for 2010 in this year (2009) itself. This is a great motivator for us to enhance our commitment in terms of new product launches, distribution networks, product zones and services centres. We recently opened our Kolkata office and plan to create our presence in Southern India too".

Other hands in the expansion strategy, Hidehiko Tanaka, managing director, Hiroshi Takashina, general manager and Sajjan Kumar, general manager sales and marketing from Nikon India were also present at the occasion.

This exclusive Nikon outlet will have on display the entire range of DSLR cameras, NIKKOR lenses and the COOLPIX compact cameras to allow consumers the touch and feel experience for the Digital SLR Cameras. Nikon aims to open similar outlets in other Metros in India as well.

Nikon zone is an attempt to provide customers with an interactive and informative shopping experience.

Hidehiko Tanaka said "Launch of Nikon DSLR camera zone is a major step by the company to promote the culture of photography in India. We want to empower our consumers by providing technical know how from experts and the opportunity to touch and feel the cameras so that they can make the right buying decision."

Presently, Nikon has a presence in India through across 581 outlets and is expected to increase it to 1100 by 2009 end.
