ASML, the world’s largest supplier of computer chip making equipment and the largest technology player in the Netherlands, is planning a major expansion with the opening of a major facility in the Dutch city of Eindhoven, employing around 20,000 people.

The company said it has signed a letter of intent with the city administration to explore the prospects of expanding into a relatively underdeveloped area near the city airport.

The development comes days after ASML reversed a contract with Chinese chipmakers, ending supplies of certain equipment to Chinese chip maker

ASML is looking to make use of the global realignment of the highly profitable electronics industry in a fiercely innovative ecosystem that seeks to fuel growth in protected semiconductor manufacturing hubs.

The company is seeing a growing market for its products and services across semiconductor end markets.

Total net sales of the company for the year 2023 stood at €5.3 billion, with net system sales of €4.0 billion and installed base management sales of €1.3 billion.

ASML reported a gross margin of 51 per cent and an operating margin of  26.3 per cent for the year while net income or net profit as a percentage of net sales stood at 23.1 per cent.

ASML expects to reach annual revenue target of around €30 billion to €40 billion in 2025, based on different market scenarios.

Gross margin is expected to be between 54 and 56 per cent, with 2030 annual revenue of €44 billion and €60 billion and gross margin between 56 per cent and 60 per cent.
