More companies are seeking to hire fresh MBAs and master of accounting graduates in 2012 than they did last year, the 2012 Global Management Education Graduate survey by Graduate Management Admission Council ( GMAC) has shown.

Nearly 79 per cent of the companies polled said they planned to hire recent MBA graduates this year, as against 72 per cent last year. On an average, the companies expected to increase new hires from 13 in 2011 to 17 per firm in 2012.

The Global Management Education Graduate survey for mid-February to mid-March 2012 considered a sample size of 1,096 recruiters, 128 business schools and 800 companies the world over. Among the Indian companies and business schools that participated in the survey were Airtel India, India Infoline, ISB Hyderabad, IIFT, Delhi and SP Jain Institute of Management Research.

Companies with less than 1,000 employees accounted for the largest proportional increase in demand for MBAs as also other specialised business graduates in the survey.

The proportion of companies intending to hire recent MBA graduates is expected to increase by 22 per cent in the technology sector in 2012 as against 2011.

Meanwhile, corporate India continues its romance with management graduates of full-time two-year business administration programmes with those holding job offers looking for increase in earnings of more than 200 per cent from their pre-degree earnings, much higher than the 80 per cent salary increase for all full-time two-year MBA graduates worldwide.

But, apart from the higher salaries, around 88 per cent of Indian employers are planning to hire MBAs in 2012, in line with the 89 per cent of Indian employers that reported hiring MBAs in 2011.
