Over half of Indian workers considering leaving jobs: Study

According to the latest Mercer's What's Working survey, about 54 per cent of Indian employees are seriously considering leaving their jobs for better prospects in terms of career and base pay.
Women may be in the forefront as 58 per cent said they were considering quitting as against 53 per cent for men.
Around 66 per cent of employees under 24 years of age were also seriously considering leaving and led all age groups in satisfaction with their organisation, at 82 per cent.
The survey, which studies employee attitudes towards work, was conducted among more than 2,000 workers in India.
According to Nishchae Suri, managing director, Mercer Consulting India, this need not come as a rude shock to organisations, as the issue had been cropping up for years and now it was there for all to see and take measures to control it before it got out of hand.
Suri said, for companies, it was about revisiting the drawing board and chalking out a redeveloped strategy for not only retaining employees but also helping them grow.
