Talent not at a premium in India: Manpower Inc

Chennai: Contrary to the feeling that Indian undergraduates are, often, unemployable, a Manpower Inc survey finds that only 13 per cent of the Indian employers find it difficult to hire the talent they require.
Of the 4,382 respondents to the American company's survey, 87 per cent of the Indian employers said that they do not have any difficulty in filling up vacant positions.
However, the top ten jobs for which employers are unable to find suitable candidates due to a shortage of talent are:
1. Sales representatives
2. IT staff
3. Accountants
4. Marketing and PR executives
5. Sales managers
6. Engineering and technical mangers
7. IT manager / project managers
8. Engineers and
9. Administrative assistants and personal assistants and
10. Teachers.
Manpower surveyed 33,000 employers across 23 countries and found that 40 per cent of the employers find it difficult to fill vacancies. The employers who find it very difficult are located in Mexico (78 per cent reporting talent shortage), Canada (66 per cent) and Japan (58 per cent).
Globally the top ten jobs that suffer from talent shortage are:
1. Sales representatives
2. Engineers
3. Technicians primarily production/operations, engineering and maintenance
4. Production Operators
5. Skilled manual trades (carpenters, welders and plumbers)
6. IT Staff — programmers and developers
7. Administrative Assistants and Personal Assistants
8. Drivers
9. Accountants
10. Management / Executives
