Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) today launched mobile-based trading, becoming the first stock exchange in the country to extend internet trading to the mobile platform.

The mobile trading platform, launched today, will link 33 leading brokers to the investing public.

The platform was launched at the convention hall of BSE in the presence of 11 major broking firms.

The technology for the mobile-trading platform was developed by software vendors like Marketplace Technologies, Technova Religare and Financial Technology.

"We have started providing user-friendly mobile-based trading from today. The top 33 brokers of BSE commenced mobile trading for their clients," BSE managing director and chief executive Madhu Kannan, said after the launch.

Mobile trading will be similar to a client logging on to the broker's trade portal, using his PC. BSE will allow members to test mobile trading using their existing IML IDs.
