PayPal blocks payments in India

PayPal, amongst the leading online payment gateways has stopped accepting transactions from India. The same is reflected on thier official blog which states sorting of some issues with partners and stake holders as the reason behind the sieze.

The payments have been frozen both to and from India.

Though they have been suspended for personal users, commercial enterprises remain unaffected. However, merchants cannot withdraw sums in rupees as transfers to banks are also on hold.

A PayPal blog titled, 'Personal Payments and local bank transfers in India'

"Hi blog readers, it's Anuj from the communications team here.

"I'm writing to let you know that personal payments to and from India and transfers to local banks in India have been suspended while we work with our business partners and other stakeholders to address questions they have about the service.
