Tourism ministry releases three new social awareness commercials

Tourism minister Kumari Selja here today released three new social awareness commercials for the tourism mininstry, featuring Aamir Khan, who is also a brand ambassador for the ministry's Atithi Devo Bhava campaign.

With an eye to the Commonwealth games, the ministry  had  launched the  Atithi  Devo  Bhavah social  awareness campaign  in 2004-05  aimed at influencing a positive outlook among citizens towards foreign tourists and has been appreciated  by  the  travel   industry.

In  2008-09, the tourism  ministry  associated Aamir  Khan  as the brand  ambassador  for the  ministry  to spread awareness messages. Two TV commercials, featuring  Aamir Khan, were  produced  on Molestation  of  women  tourists and  Graffiti on  Monuments. 

Print ads and a  radio jingle on  Molestation  of  women  tourists  were  also  produced. 

The  campaigns  featuring   Aamir  Khan  were  launched  on  select  TV  channels,   FM  radio stations  and   newspapers  including   the language media.

The ministry  has also  hosted  a  website   www.atithi.org.in as  an extension  of  this initiative,  seeking  public  participation  to  gauge  the  response  and  impact  of  the  campaign.
