Flipkart launches first tablet Digiflip Pro XT712

E retailer Flipkart has launched its first tablet - Digiflip Pro XT712 - under the private label Digiflip Pro, making it the first online marketplace in India to launch its own device.

The tablet, available in black and white variants, is priced at Rs9,999.

The Bangalore-based company is also offering shopping benefits worth Rs5,000 and free e-books worth Rs2,000. Customers can avail these benefits by shopping using Flipkart mobile applications that come pre-installed on the tablet, Flipkart said in a statement.

The company will handle the after-sales service through a network of more than 120 service centres across 100 cities.

Additionally, it is also providing 24-hour service customers across 13 cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata and Hyderabad through its centres.

Benefits such as cash on delivery and a 30-day replacement policy are also being provided, it added.

With one of the largest user bases in the country, we have access to unparalleled data that allows us to predict what kind of products and services will work well in the market,'' Michael Adnani, vice president – Retail & Head - Brand Alliances at Flipkart said.

The 7-inch tablet comes with a 1280x800p HD resolution display, a 1.3GHz Quad Core Cortex A7 processor, 1GB DDR3 RAM and weighs 285 gms. It has dual SIM 3G calling feature that caters to customers' needs of access to faster data connectivity, voice calling along with the flexibility of using two SIM cards.

Launched in October 2007, Flipkart.com offers more than 15 million products cross 70 categories. The e-commerce marketplace has 18 million registered users, daily visits of 3.5 million and shipments of about 5 million a month.
