Micromax launches 14 Canvas, Bolt series smartphones in Russia

Indian low-priced mobile handset maker Micromax has announced plans to launch operations in Russia, the company's first European foray. 

Micromax said in a statement, it ''aims to have an aggressive plan to make its mark in the Russian mobile handset market and plans to offer innovative products customised to the needs of consumers in Russia.''

Micromax  co-founder Rahul Sharma said, ''Our initial focus in the Russian market is to replicate the success witnessed in our other markets in the last couple of years. We have carved the vision for ourselves to be the 1st Indian hardware brand to be global and set our footprint with Russia as the first developed market to venture into.''

He added, ''We see a growing trend of data consumption through mobile devices in Russia, and we would be initiating partnerships with the leading operators in the region to aim at efficient data consumption on our devices in the coming year.''

Speaking on the occasion, Vasily Sibirtsev, chairman VVP Group said, ''We are very excited to work with Micromax, one of the world's leading mobile phone brands. We will be working aggressively to strengthen our presence in the retail space across 9000+ sales points in the country backed by an efficient service infrastructure.''

Micromax said it was extending its product portfolio and services in the country which according to many would be a gateway to European market.

Micromax ranks second after Samsung in India and its devices are selling well in the SAARC market. The company's Canvas series of smartphones are a big hit in India.

The company plans to introduce its Canvas and Bolt series in Russia to register its aggressive presence in the country through over 9000 sales outlets, partnering with the VVP Group with a robust network across 60 cities.

The company aimed to push an aggressive plan to gain a significant footprint in the Russian mobile handset market re-emphasising on its vision to offer innovative products and service offerings, customised to address the needs of consumers in Russia.

''The partnership is a strategic move, which would provide good reach for Micromax in the region with a plan to make Micromax products available across the country, ensuring deeper shelf space and wider outlet spread'', it said in a statement.
