Xolo launches Quad-core Q700 priced Rs9999

The Quad-core battle for smartphones and phablets has finally started with premium Android smartphones maker XOLO yesterday launching Q700 which it claimed was the world's first multi-profile Android smartphone with 1.2 GHz Quad-core processor. The device carries a price tag of Rs9999.

Xolo MobileThough processors started off as single core units, improvements in technology led to multi-core processors. A dual core processor contains two cores, while a quad core processor contains four cores. Multi-core processors offer scope for performance improvement depending on the software algorithms used and their implementation.

The company was clearly focused on a full range of Smartphones with Quad-Core processors under its new QCORE series. The company had earlier, launched its first Quad-core smartphone Q800, XOLO - the Premium Smartphone brand.

In February Micromax launched Canvas HD (A116) a phablet, which came with MediaTek's quad-core processor. Prior to that Karbonn Mobiles had launched the Karbonn Smart Titanium 1 - India's first quad-core CPU smartphone. The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.

The XOLO Q700 runs on latest Android Jelly bean v4.2 and is powered by a 1.2 GHz Quad-core processor.  It comes with a 4.5" qHD IPS display with One Glass Solution (OGS) Technology which made the touch experience of the device much more responsive.  It comes with a resolution of 960x540 with 245 PPI and can play 720p videos. It boasts 4 GB of internal storage coupled with 1 GB of RAM for a smoother smartphone experience.

The device has a 5 megapixel camera mounted on the rear for recording 720p video while the front camera was VGA. The Q700 comes with 4GB of internal memory as also 1GB of RAM.

The smartphone comes with a 2400mAh battery, which as per company claims offers 17 hours of talk time and 380 hours of standby time on 2G and 16 hours of talk time and 350 hours of standby time on 3G.

According to Lava Xolo Q700 was the world's first multi-profile Android smartphone, which came with Xolo switch app, which allowed creation of separate profiles for work and personal life by users. Users can create up to four personal profiles including Kids Mode with different lock screen, applications and wallpapers. With the Xolo Switch, users can change profiles with just a simple flick.

The Q700 also came with Xolo Secure and Xolo Power apps, with the Xolo Secure app offering Remote Lock and Wipe Phone Data functionality as also a cloud backup for messages and call logs.

The smartphone would be available only in brown and blue colours.
