Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) today released a draft amendment to the Quality of Service of Broadband Service Regulations, 2006, which seeks to prescribe financial disincentives for broadband service providers for non-compliance with benchmark quality service parameters.

TRAI has proposed a financial disincentive not exceeding Rs50,000 per parameter for the first non-compliance and Rs1,00,000 each for subsequent acts of non-compliance with service quality parameters.

The regulations further provide for a deterrent against false or delayed reporting of the quality of service benchmarks.

TRAI has sought stakeholder comments on the draft amendment to quality of service of broadband service regulations.
