The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) may file a chargesheet against union textiles minister Dayanidhi Maran, a member of the DMK party, in the 2G spectrum scam case.

Dayanidhi MaranAccording to CNN-IBN, CBI sources have said Siva Group Chairman C Sivasankaran has filed a complaint against Maran, a former telecom minister, and deposed before the agency in mid-May, in which he gave details of how he was 'forced' to sell his stake in Aircel.

His statement under 161 CrPC will be recorded next week. The CBI sources also said that subsequent to Sivankaran's statement, Dayanidhi Maran and the promoter of Maxis, Anatha Krishnan, can be questioned.

Meanwhile the clamour for Maran's ouster from the union government is growing, with Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalilithaa joining the BJP at the centre in asking Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to sack him.

''Maran should put in his papers and face the charges levied against him,'' said Jayalalithaa in her weekly interaction with the media today.

Unfortunately for Maran, his own party has maintained a silence bordering on indifference over his fate.
