Prolonging the suspense of whether bail will be granted to 2G spectrum scam accused Kanimozhi, daughter of DMK supremo M Karunanidhi whose party has just been thrown out of power in Tami Nadu, the special CBI court in New Delhi once again deferred the pronouncement of its order till 20 May.

"The order is deferred to 20 May," special judge O P Saini said after marking the presence of all the accused, including 43-year-old Kanimozhi. His pronouncement came as something of an anti-climax, as a decision was widely expected today after the court had postponed a decision on 7 May as well.

The court also adjourned its pronouncement till 20 May on the bail plea of Sharad Kumar, managing director and chief executive of Kalaignar TV, owned by the Karunanidhi family.

Seeing a large contingent of journalists in the courtroom, Saini asked why there were so many journalists, and then simply passed the order.

A K Singh, lawyer for the Central Bureau of Investigation, told reporters outside the court that the only reason which the judge gave for not pronouncing the order was that it was not ready.

Kanimozhi was accompanied by her husband G Aravindan and DMK parliamentary party leader T R Baalu.
