Japan sharing information on radiation: Government

According to the government, Japan has been sharing all information on nuclear radiation from its plants in Fukushima. Also India has the means to check goods coming from the quake battered country.
''I can say that despite the terrible tragedy that has befallen Japan, their institutions are efficient and they are sharing all information with other countries, including India,'' commerce and industry minister Anand Sharma said at a CII function in New Delhi.
Meanwhile, India continues to keep a close check on food items imported into the country from Japan, after the blasts at the Fukushima nuclear reactors.
India's imports from Japan mainly comprise processed foods, sea food, oil seeds and seeds of vegetables such as cauliflower and cabbage as also diary products, confectionery items and tobacco products.
A number of other countries South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore and the Philippines have decided to check Japanese food imports for radiation.
Replying to a question about disruption in shipping lines between India and Japan, Sharma said due to the tsunami and earthquake, the movement of ships could be affected. He added that CII would assess the impact of the situation on trade and investment in the country
