Adani Power (APL) will develop a 1,320 MW power project at Chinndwara in Madhya Pradesh. The state government has issued a letter of intent (LoI) to APL for development of the project.

Under this unique project, the land and other infrastructure facilities and requisite support would come from the state government.

Currently, APL and its subsidiaries are engaged in the development of a number of power projects, including a 4,620 MW project at Mundra in Gujarat, a 3,300 MW at Tiroda in Maharashtra, and a 1,320 MW at Kawai in Rajasthan. A 2,640 MW project at Dahej in Gujarat is also under way.

APL's capacity under construction at present totals 11,880 MW and this will exceed 13,000 MW with the latest project.

As per the LoI, 300 hectares of land, currently with the MPSEB, as also infrastructure facilities will be transferred to APL. The first 660 MW unit is slated to be commissioned 42 months from the date of LoI.

In addition, the MP government's department of energy will support and make recommendations to government of India (GoI) for obtaining coal linkage/captive coal block for the project. The required statutory clearances for the project will need to be obtained by APL. However, the MP government will provide recommendations to the concerned department for obtaining all the clearances.
