Washington: The US will send a trade mission to India and China in April this year to explore opportunities for its clean energy technology goods and services.

David Bohigian, US assistant secretary of commerce, who will lead the mission, says there has been amazing growth in the economies of both India and China that had led to a great need for additional energy in these countries. The US expects this trend to continue, he said.

The clean-energy technologies trade mission is aimed at allowing US companies to explore opportunities in these fast-growing markets where their clean technology and services "can help improve the environment".

Bohigian said the deployment of clean-energy products developed US companies would have a dramatic effect on the environment of the two countries without hindering world economic growth, not only in these countries, but around the world.

He said that both the environment and the industry stood to benefit from the deployment.

According to the commerce department, the mission would target a broad range of clean energy technologies such as renewable energy, energy efficiency, clean coal and distributed generation.
