Mumbai: The Supreme Court has vacated a stay granted by Gujarat High Court on a central government directive to raise price of LNG for customers like Essar Steel to keep the fuel price for the Dabhol power project low.

A division bench headed by Justice Ashok Bhan also directed the high court to restore Petronet LNG Ltd, Gail India Ltd, Indian Oil Corp and BPCL as parties in the case.

The Gujarat High Court had on July 31 stayed petroleum ministry's notification directing IOC, GAIL and BPCL to charge uniform prices on existing and new consumers.

The Supreme Court had on the same day issued notices to the centre and IOC, BPCL, GAIL, Essar and GSPC on a request for clubbing a bunch of petitions challenging the government order.
