Airlines to raise fuel surcharge by Rs100

Mumbai: Airlines in the country are going in for a fourth hike in fuel surcharge this year. All major airlines will hike fuel surcharge by Rs100, taking it to Rs750. The hike will be effective from September 5, 2006.

The hike in fuel surcharge comes in the wake of a 4 per cent increase in aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices announced by public sector oil companies oil companies on August 31, 2006.

The fuel surcharge has soared from a Rs300 base to Rs650 over the past three months at present, which is again being hiked to Rs750.
