Cabinet clears AAI-CAE aviation academy as a JV

New Delhi: Taking a firm step in the direction of meeting the shortage of pilots in the country, the union cabinet has approved the setting up of a flying and aviation training institute as a joint venture between the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and CAE, Canada.

The union cabinet also agreed to CAE taking over the management of the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akademi.

It is expected that the CAE will now run the academy turning out 100 pilots every year.
