Chennai: The Credit Rating Information Services of India (Crisil) and GETIT Infomediary, Indias largest yellow pages publisher, have come together to offer certification and verification services for business and service sectors.

ISO and QS certifications are largely restricted to big corporates, as it requires elaborate documenting of activities. But there is a long-felt need for some sort of third party certification process for small and medium businesses and service enterprises that does not impose much additional costs.

It is this gap that GETIT Infomediary and Crisil is hoping to fill with their TrustMe certification service. Under this, advertisers in GETIT yellow pages have the option of getting their businesses certified or verified by Crisil on predefined criteria for a fee.

Says Crisil MD Ravi Mohan: Forty per cent of our national income is from the unorganised sector. But there is no third party, wherefrom they can get themselves rated. Crisils certification and verification are two different ratings. Under the certification category, Crisil certifies the capability of advertisers to provide the claimed service, based on predefined criteria. On the other hand the verification rating authenticates the physical existence of the business entity.

Mohan says Crisil will largely use the information provided by the advertiser that will be fed into a computer for analysis. We have a software called Takepro and a network of data suppliers to assist in the certification and verification process.

Says GETIT Infomediary COO Siddharth Gupta: The annual fee for the certification service will range from Rs 15,000 to Rs 1 lakh depending on the product category an advertiser belongs, while the fee for the verification service is Rs 3,000. The renewal fee will be 1 per cent of the initial charges paid.

Adds GETIT Infomediary vice-chairman and MD Ramesh Gupta: The TrustMe service benefits both the advertiser and the yellow pages user. This helps an advertiser get only relevant enquiries and helps to differentiate him with others. For the yellow pages user a third-party certification and verification is a valuable tool to decide on a service provider.
