Rs 50 lakh short in RBI''s currency consignment

Thiruvananthapuram: Rs50 lakh is supposed to be the shortfall in a currency consignment received in the Reserve Bank of India's regional office in Thiruvananthapuram. The consignment was travelling from the Mysore unit of the Bharatiya Reserve Bank Note Mudra Ltd.

An RBI spokesperson confirmed that there was "some shortfall" in a currency consignment received by the RBI's regional office in Thiruvananthapuram.

Police sources said that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is investigating the disappearance of the money. The CBI has, in fact, registered a case in this regard, the sources added.
