Bank credit in India up nearly 20 per cent year-on-year

Total bank credit in the country rose nearly 20 per cent year-on-year to Rs33,82,928 crore as of 10 September 2010 even as total liabilities of the banking system rose over 14.65 per cent to Rs48,34,533.67 during the period.
Bank credit (excluding inter-bank advance) of all commercial banks in the country stood at Rs33,82,927.80 crore as of 10 September 2010, up 19.76 per cent from Rs28,24,536.81 crore as on the comparable period of the previous year (11 September 2009).
Total bank credit stood at Rs33,51,396.16 crore a fortnight ago (ended 27 August 2010), figures released by the Reserve Bank of India showed.
Loans, cash credits and overdrafts of all scheduled banks stood at Rs32,62,823.61 crore as of 10 September 2010 against Rs27,25,338.82 crore in the year-ago period and Rs32,30,554.69 crore a fortnight ago.
Bank credit (excluding inter-bank advance) by scheduled commercial banks in the country stood at Rs34,84,443.31 crore as of 10 September 2010 against Rs29,06,269.42 crore in the year-ago period and Rs34,51,959.66 crore a fortnight ago.
Loans, cash credits and overdrafts of scheduled commercial banks stood at Rs33,61,891.40 crore as of 10 September 2010 against Rs28,05,062.00 crore a year ago and Rs33,28,697.49 crore a fortnight ago.
Deposits with the banking system (other than from banks) rose over 14.65 per cent to Rs48,34,533.67 crore as of 10 September 2010 from Rs42,16,497.76 crore in the year-ago period. It was Rs48,14,597.56 crore a fortnight ago.
