SBI reports 10.18 per cent rise in Q2 profit

State Bank of India, the country's largest lender, today reported a 10.18 per cent rise in its fiscal second quarter (July-September 2009-10) net profit at Rs2,490 crore against Rs2,260 crore in the corresponding quarter a year ago.

SBI's total income grew 18.93 per cent to Rs21,300 crore in the current fiscal's second quarter from Rs17,910 crore in the previous year's quarter, a release issued by SBI to the Bombay Stock Exchange said.

"The figures are not comparable pursuant to the merger of State Bank of Saurashtra with the bank last year,'' the bank said in its filing.

On a standalone basis, the bank posted a net profit of Rs2,490.04 crore, against Rs2,259.72 crore in last year's quarter, on a total income of Rs21,301.04 against the previous Rs 17,909.64 crore.
