Japan, India to bolster partnership in climate, environment issues

Japan will foster close partnership with Indian science and technical institutions in the field of climate change, sustainable development and global environmental issues.

The two countries discussed the issue at a meeting of Koji Omi, former finance minister of Japan and founder chairman of Science and Technology in Society (STS) Forum with minister of science and technology Pawan Kumar Bansal in New Delhi today.

The two countries discussed deeper relationship between scientists, science and technology establishments and also with the business community engaged in the business of clean technology and sustainable development objectives.

Koji Omi is a key member of LDP and was instrumental in enacting the fundamental law of science and technology in 1995.

Koji Omi invited Pawan Bansal and Ashwani Kumar, minister of state for science and technology and earth sciences to attend the annual global conference to be held in Kyoto, Japan in November 2011.

The Kyoto meeting will discuss ways and means to deploy science and technology in the welfare of mankind.

The aim of STS forum is to build a worldwide network amongst scientists, policy makers and business throughout the world.
