Nawaz Sharif might be flown to London for further treatment

Former Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif might be sent to London for treatment this week according to source-based Pakistani media reports on Monday.
Sharif, who recently returned after a three-month stay in London – where he underwent cardiac surgery – was shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) on Sunday after his health deteriorated.
The former premier was sent to the Adiala jail in Rawalpindi more than a fortnight ago. However, his heart condition worsened in jail and the 68-year-old leader was shifted to the PIMS in Islamabad.
The leading Pakistani politician is currently serving a 10-year jail term in a corruption case related to the acquisition of luxury apartments by him and other family members in London.
The decision to shift him to a hospital on Sunday was taken after doctors advised Shaukat Javed, the caretaker home minister of Punjab, to do so at the earliest.
The Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) leader had undergone bypass surgery and also suffers from diabetes and high cholesterol. His party workers claim that he had refused to relocate to a hospital from his jail.
Daughter Maryam Nawaz pleaded with him to shift to a hospital for treatment.
Security around the hospital has been beefed up as a large number of his supporters gathered outside.
