Iran will soon unveil its "big new" nuclear achievements, even as the United States and its allies continue to press tough new sanctions over its clandestine nuclear programme.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad announced this on Saturday while addressing a huge rally to mark the 33rd anniversary of the Islamic Republic.

"Within the next few days the world will witness the inauguration of several big new achievements in the nuclear field," Ahmadinejad said while addressing the rally at the Azadi square in the capital.

He did not elaborate but insisted his country would never give up its uranium enrichment programme.

The Iranian president said Tehran is ready to revive talks with the West over the country's nuclear programme even as he railed against the economic sanctions declared by the US and its allies.

The US and the European Union countries announced tough new sanctions against Iran, which they suspect of carrying on a clandestine nuclear weapons programme in the garb of a nuclear fuel enrichment programme.
