Engineering Projects (India) signs memorandum of understanding with Scomi for monorail projects in India and abroad

Engineering Projects India (EPI), a Government of India enterprise, has entered into a three-year memorandum of understanding with Scomi Engineering Bhd, a subsidiary of Malaysia-based Scomi Group involved in oilfield services, public transportation and marine services.

The MoU was signed in the presence of union minister of heavy industries and public enterprises, Vilasrao Deshmukh and Arun Yadav, minister of state, heavy industries and public enterprises.

Under the terms of the agreement, EPI will work with Scomi as a preferred consortium partner for the execution of projects for the construction of monorails and MRTS both in India and abroad.

EPI has executed over 480 multi-disciplinary projects in India valuing over $1175.46 million and has successfully executed 30 projects valued over $782.00 million in Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Yugoslavia, Maldives, Bhutan and Thailand.

Scomi Group is a leading provider of urban transit systems and oil and gas services provider, across the globe focusing on emerging markets like India, Brazil and GCC.

It is currently working on building India's first monorail in Mumbai, a 20-kilometer route between Jacob Circle and Chembur with one central depot and about 18 stations.
