Government defers decision on FDI in real estate

New Delhi: The union cabinet deferred a decision on allowing more foreign investment in the construction and real estate sector, commerce and industry minister Kamal Nath said on Thursday.

"The proposal will be considered at a later date, he told reporters, not giving any details.

The cabinet committee on economic affairs discussed the proposal to allow foreign firms to build on plots less than 100 acres in size, which is currently not permitted.
