Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today distributed free laptops at Lucknow University, as part of the state government's electoral promise of free laptops for students who have passed class XII.

State cabinet Minister Pawan Pandey accompanied the Uttar Pradesh chief minister at the event.

Addressing the students, Yadav said, "The youth has helped us in removing an autocratic government from the state (referring to the previous Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party government).

''These laptops will help fetch youngsters good jobs."

Over 400,000 laptops are lying in storehouses across the state waiting to be distributed.

So far Yadav has distributed only about 80,000 laptops, owing to his ''busy schedule''.
