The five-member committee headed by Justice Srikrishna constituted to go into the demand for a separate Telangana state today submitted its report to home minister P Chidambaram.

The committee, constituted on 3 February 2010, submitted its two-volume report a day before its term was to expire.

The committee was mandated to look into the feasibility of meeting the demands of the separatists while at the same time keeping Andhra Pradesh united.

While the contents of the report are under wraps, Justice Srikrishna said the committee has tried the greatest good of the largest number of people and that the report in no case would provoke another round of protest.

"I can assure you that the panel has tried to address all aspects of the Telangana issue and our aim was to give highest satisfaction to the largest number of people," Justice Srikrishna told a brief press conference in New Delhi a day ahead of submitting the report.

He said the committee's report was a carefully researched document, which tries to address the aspirations of the people of Telangana.
