Jointly owned metro rail firms to be treated as CPSUs for land transfers

The Union Cabinet has approved the proposal for treating 50:50 joint ownership metro rail companies like Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd at par with central public sector units for transfer of land.

This will allow the government to transfer land including defence land to those metro rail companies that have 50:50 partnership between the government of India and the state government, on the same pattern and terms and conditions as applicable to  public sector unitsand  statutory bodies.

"As per this decision, the on-going and future metro rail projects would be facilitated to get completed within the approved cost and time with subsequent project benefits to the people," a government statement said.
