India's industrial production, based on the Index of Industrial Production (IIP), rose to a six-month high of 5.2 per cent in November 2024, against 3.5 per cent in October, quick estimates released by the ministry of statistics and programme implementation showed.
Output in the three main sectors of the economy, viz, mining, manufacturing and electricity, increased by 1.9 per cent, 5.8 per cent and 4.4 per cent, respectively, in November 2024.
Within the manufacturing sector, 18 out of 23 industry groups have recorded year-on-year growth in November 2024. Production of basic metals increased by 7.6 per cent while production of electrical equipment and other non-metallic mineral products increased by 12 per cent.
Primary goods production increased by 2.7 per cent in November 2024 while capital goods production increased by 9 per cent, intermediate goods production by 5 per cent and production of infrastructure and construction goods increased by 10 per cent.
Production of consumer durables and consumer non-durables increased by 13.1 per cent and 0.6 per cent, respectively, in November 2024.
The IIP for October 2024 has undergone the first revision while that for August 2024 has undergone final revision on the basis of updated data received from source agencies.
