West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee yesterday came under attack from political parties and eminent lawyers for making allegations of instances of court judgements delivered for money.

While the BJP said the questions raised against the judiciary by the chief minister were not right, the CPI(M) termed it as a "tactic" to put pressure on the constitutional authority of the judiciary.

It was unbecoming of a chief minister to make unsubstantiated allegation against the constitutional authority.

Hitting out at Banerjee for her controversial statement,CPI(M) leader Mohammed Salim said the chief minister took up the issue inside the assembly when "she is at the receiving end."

Reacting strongly to Banerjee's controversial statement, eminent lawyer Soli Sorabji, ormer solicitor general, asked if wht the hief minister had was true, then what of cases she had won in court and "who paid the judges then", he asked, "Mamata?

He added this showed the absurdity of the allegations. He said he expected a mature reaction.
