Exacerbating the case filed today by the Central Bureau of Investigation against YSR Congress chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) has said in a report that the Andhra Pradesh government has doled out thousands of acres of government land to private individuals on an ad hoc and arbitrary manner without safeguarding the interests of the state.

The CAG report for the financial year ending today was tabled in the assembly on Thursday.

The irregularities happened when Jaganmohan's father, the late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, was chief minister of the state. The CBI has alleged in its chargesheet that 'YSR', as the late chief minister is known, and his ministers fiddled land allotments to favour Jaganmohan.

According to the CAG, a total of 88,500 acres of land was allotted in a dubious manner to private parties, depriving the state of nearly Rs1 lakh crore in revenue.

Among those involved in the irregularities were Vanpic, the Obulapuram Mining Co (now infamous for alleged illegal iron ore mining) and Aurobindo Pharma, according to the CAG. All these companies are already under the CBI scanner.

The CAG report details the land allotments between 2006 and 2011, the major portion of which period saw YSR as chief minister.
