Home minister Sushilkumar Shinde, after a visit to the site of the double bomb blast in Hyderabad on Thursday, told Parliament today that government will make all possible efforts to find the perpetrators.

Shinde told the Lok Sabha that the situation was under control and the government was committed to fight such ''cowardly'' terror attacks.

In his written statement, the home minister iterated what is already known – that the twin blasts took place in a busy locality of Hyderabad city at a local bus stop and a canteen, which were about 150 metres from each other, at 6.58 pm and 7.01 pm on Thursday.

''Preliminary investigations reveal that the IEDs (improvised explosive devices) were placed on bicycles, causing explosion at both the places,'' he said.

Shinde's statement was quickly seen as banal by the opposition as well as political observers. ''It is on a par with his saying yesterday that it was not certain that the twin blasts were a terrorist action,'' sniggered a report.

Another lamented that the sensitive home affairs ministry, once the domain of Independent India's best statesmen, has been debased to a reward for outdated politicians because they have proved their loyalty to the ruling party.
