At least 15 killed, over 50 injured as blasts rock Hyderabad's Dilsukh Nagar

At least 15 people are feared to have been killed in a series of explosions that rocked the Dilsukh Nagar bus stand area of Hydeabad, at around 7 pm.

More than 50 people also sustained injuries in the blasts that took place between 7.01 pm and 7.21 pm. The exact number of casualties and the nature of explosions are yet to be ascertained.

The first blast took place at 7.01 pm, followed by another explosion at 7.06 pm and a third one at 7.21 pm, official sources said.

The area has been cordoned off after the blasts and high alert has been sounded throughout the state and neighbouring Karnataka and Maharashtra as also in Kolkata and Delhi.

Union home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde confirmed that at least 11 people had died in the blasts. He said the toll could rise as several persons have been admitted in hospitals with severe injuries.

The first blast that took place near Venkatadri theatre was caused by a bomb placed on a motorcycle, the second explosion near Konark theatre was from a bomb that might have been kept inside a tiffin box, according to the police. The third explosion took place at the Anand Kishan Centre.
